Pumpkins time

If you walk around for some shopping at this time of the year, you'll see pumpkins everywhere: from real and edible ones, to the fake ones, decorated and ready to be taken out for Halloween...
So, I saw so many of them, and they were so attractive that I couldn't help but look for a good tutorial to make a fabric one...what a pity, huh? ;)

Here is my pumpkin and the good tutorial:

It's very easy and rather quick to make. For my pumpkin I used a 1m square of orange fabric, and for the filling I used cotton. The final diameter is about 30cm.

One more thing...from the fabric that was left over, I cut another square of about 15cm, and I made a mini-pumpkin pin cute:

I hope you liked it! Cheers!

Felt flowers

Time has come to tell you about these cute roses...back in 2011 I found a couple of very easy tuorials to make these flowers in a snap...and, since then, between presents for my friends...and for me hehe, I have never stopped! Really they are very versatile: depending on what you put on the base, they can be used as brooches, hair bobbles, clips, decoration for a belt or a pair of shoes, or whatever your imagination can suggest!

Here are the links to the tutorials:

For the big flower: the small one:

For any doubt you might have on the tutorials or the materials, you can post a comment here below, if you like!

Teddy bear

This was one of my favorite experiments! After several hours of work and in spite of errors and imperfections, the bear you have in your hand looks so cute that you forget of all those broken threads and needles and of all that mess of the patterns...

I remember that this time I broke the original needle of my sewing machine... and when I went looking for another one, I found out that there exist different kinds for different fabric thicknesses... so, if you are embarking on this venture, I recommend to avoid normal needles (number 12-14) and rather go for a 16 one, as you will sometimes find yourself sewing together 3 or 4 layers of fabric at a time.
By the way, I used the same fabric of the sheep pillow, which is synthetic and soft to the touch.

Here you can download the pattern and aaall the instructions, step by step, to create the bear:

In  addition to the color of the bear, I changed one more thing: instead of the set of animal eyes, I used a pair of flat black buttons.

I bet that now you'd like to make one by yourself =)

Table runner

A quick and easy work to decorate a table, a chests of drawers, or some living room furniture...

Here you can find the tutorial on which I based my work:

I did not like the proposed way of connecting the hearts, so, instead of buttons and trimmings, I used some small rectangles made of white felt, attached with a little drop of hot glue on the back side of the hearts... almost invisible!

A fabric and cotton aquarium

Holidays are over... well, looking at the positive side, it's time to dedicate some time to crafts!

Still, before starting with some new work, I'd like to bring this page up to date. So, to share some ideas, I'd like to show you a mobile that was very successful at home:

To make it, I painted a branch with a mixture of enamel and a little water, and, while it was drying (it takes a lot of time...), I drafted fishes of different shapes and sizes. At last, I came up with the shape I liked, and made five of it with  fabric body and felt eyes and fins. I made them a little fat with my beloved IKEA pillow filling, and finally I hung them to the coral-branch with some fishing thread.

That was really easy and, aside from the time it took the branch to dry, it was also very quick to make!

Here are more photos of it. If you liked the shape of my fishes, you can  download them clicking here.

Sheep pillow

Going on with the memories from 2010... now it's the time of my first work with the sewing machine...the sheep pillow! I found myself cursing a lot the sewing machine because of the thread that broke repeatedly, and well, because of my scarse expertise it came out with some rough spots, but all in all I am quite happy with the result =)
When I saw the tutorial, I fell in love with it immediately! Here is the link:

I just changed one thing: instead of using felt for the body, I used a synthetic tissue that feels like wool to the touch... cheaper and softer ;)

For the filling, I suggest you to go to IKEA and grab the 1.99 EUR pillow: it is perfect!

And here are some pictures of my sheep:

Sewing box

Here is my sewing box, my first experiment with the technique of scrapbooking... it seems to me I made it yesterday, but in fact I made it in 2010!! Amazing!!

Except for the wooden box (I could find many nice ones in dime stores), I found all the material in a scrapbooking shop.

If  you get the opportunity and you like this type of decoration, you really can't miss "Creativa": , it's a fair which takes place in many cities in Spain. In addition to paper sheets, buttons and scrapbooking letters, you can always  find a lot of fabric, plus some French stand that sells very good quality felt. At least, this is what I see every year here in Barcelona. I am really looking forward attending the next edition as well!

Last but not least, I am posting a few more pics, just to give you an idea!
