Owls in the dining room

When we moved, one year ago, I was looking for something to decorate one of the walls of our dining room (it looked very sad and empty). During a walk on the hills, I found a very nice branch, and I already knew what to do with it =)

In the internet, I found this owl pattern, from which I took the inspiration: http://juicy-bits.typepad.com/juicy_bits/2009/12/131-give-a-hoot-for-the-holidays.html

and here are some pictures of the mobile, and the pattern for the flying owl  (to be printed at 100% resolution, without adjustments).

For the baby owl, I  made a scaled down copy of the pattern, 25% of the original if I recall correctly.

And here is the most friendly  one: it moves with the breeze that enters in the morning, while his companions stand still on the branch and rest.

Decorated boxes

Talking more about the year 2010… I just found these pictures of some wooden boxes that I decorated with paint, felt and/or decoupage. Here are the pictures and the ideas! I hope you will like it and find them useful.

I am also providing you the patterns for the ladybirds, the bees and the leaves: click here to download it; for the roses, it is sufficient to cut a felt disc of approx 8-10 cm (depending on how big you want the flowers to be) and then cut it as a somewhat irregular spiral. When you reach the end of the spiral, you'll have a small disc that will be the base of the flower. Roll it, glue it to the base, and you're done. Here is a link that explains the technique more in detail: http://www.danielleburkleo.com/2010/10/diy-yarn-wreath-with-felt-flowers.html

For this flower, you have to cut 5 petals, put them together, sew the end of one of them (in the pattern you can see the small dots where you have to sew) and, with the same thread, sew the other petals until you get the complete flower. In the center, you can glue a small pearl, if you like ;)

Sewing box

Here is my sewing box, my first experiment with the technique of scrapbooking... it seems to me I made it yesterday, but in fact I made it in 2010!! Amazing!!

Except for the wooden box (I could find many nice ones in dime stores), I found all the material in a scrapbooking shop.

If  you get the opportunity and you like this type of decoration, you really can't miss "Creativa": http://www.creativa-spain.com/ , it's a fair which takes place in many cities in Spain. In addition to paper sheets, buttons and scrapbooking letters, you can always  find a lot of fabric, plus some French stand that sells very good quality felt. At least, this is what I see every year here in Barcelona. I am really looking forward attending the next edition as well!

Last but not least, I am posting a few more pics, just to give you an idea!

Introduction

Hi all,

my name is Giulietta, and this is my brand new and (still) empty blog.
After having used flickr for a long time to upload the photos of my works, I thought that maybe a blog would be more practical and useful... so, here we are!

I did not have any idea on where to start from, so let's start from the basic things... my working table, which I recently restyled. This way, it makes me feel more like working...

I hope this will give some idea to anyone who wishes to organize his/her working space!

 Cheers
